Mauritian Eagle adhere to the Code of Business Conduct as designed by the Financial Services Commission.
Principles applying to Insurers; Insurance Brokers, Insurance Agents and Intermediaries :
Insurers should ensure high standards are met in the recruitment and retention of staff and intermediaries
Insurance companies should provide training to ensure intermediaries are and remain competent for their jobs.
Insurance companies should implement mechanisms to ensure intermediaries are adequately monitored. Insurers are liable for the actions of a third party/intermediary acting on their behalf.
In conducting their business activity, insurers and intermediaries should act according to high standards of honesty, skill, care and conscientiousness which in the same circumstances, they would apply or demand for themselves.
Insurers and intermediaries must have the highest regard for the interests of policy holders.
Insurers should implement procedures and standards for fair and expeditious handling of claims, complaints and disputes and ensure their intermediaries apply these standards as appropriate.
Insurers and intermediaries should disclosure relevant information to customers to allow them to make informed decision.
(i) Insurers and intermediaries have an obligation to provide customers with timely information to allow them to make informed decision.
(ii) Insurers and intermediaries should seek relevant information from customers before proposing/selling an insurance product.
Insurers and intermediaries should communicate with their customers in a fair and clear manner.
Insurance companies must ensure they have in place a clear written policy statement on ethics and professional behaviour that is communicated to staff and intermediaries, and duly complied with.
Insurers should implement mechanisms for the safe handling of clients money. |
