Mauritian Eagle Insurance start operation. January 01, 1974In January 1974, Mauritian Eagle Insurance will commence business.
The new company with an authorised capital of 2,000,000 rupees and an issued capital of 1,000,000 rupees is being started by Ireland Blyth Limited in conjunction with the worldwide Eagle Star group.
Mauritian Eagle Insurance Limited will have at its disposal the insurance expertise and technical assistance of one of the largest insurance groups in the world. Ireland Blyth Limited have been associated with Mauritius since 1830 and have always had an active insurance department. This development is the natural extension of the existing activities.
Mr Michael Hepburn, ACII, who is well known in Mauritius, having lived here for several years and married to a Mauritian will be the first General Manager of the new company.
The establishment of this new local company is of a major importance to Mauritius as it will make a substantial contribution to the reciprocal flow of business between Mauritius and other countries and provide an important financial service.
The company's registered office will be at N° 1, Queen street, Port Louis, but as the business develop, it is hoped to establish branches elsewhere to provide greater service to clients.
