Mauritian Eagle Insurance become the first organisation in Mauritius, as well as in the Indian Ocean region, to be awarded the ISO 27001:2005 ISMS Certification.

ISO 27001 is the only auditable international standard which defines the requirements for an Information Security Management System (ISMS). It is an internationally recognised generic information security standard, based on "a comprehensive set of controls comprising of best practices in information security”.

The certificate (GB07/71111) was awarded, by SGS Systems & Certifications Services during a cocktail party held at Domaine Anna, Flic en Flac, on the 30th March 2007.
